Frontier Airlines, now under Chapter 11 protection, on Friday asked a bankruptcy court for more time to submit a reorganization plan, a spokesman confirmed.
The Denver-based carrier filed a request in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York asking that a June 4 deadline for proposing a reorganization plan be extended to Oct. 9.
“This is a routine procedure that shows we are still positively moving forward in our restructuring efforts,” Frontier spokesman Steve Snyder said.
As matters now stand, Frontier must submit a reorganization plan by June 4 or the airline’s creditors would draft their own reorganization plan.
Frontier filed Chapter 11 in April 2008; CEO Sean Menke said last week that he is talking to a number of exit financiers to bring the company out from under Chapter 11 protection.
