While data indicates there are not necessarily more storms than normal, the intensity of storms has definitely increased, causing more damage and potential loss of lives.

According to an advisory issued by Accuweather, 2024 is going to be an explosive hurricane season that will possibly break the record of 30 named storms in one season consisting of 8-12 hurricanes (4-7 of those major) with 4-6 direct impacts on the US, particularly in the Texas, Florida Panhandle, South Florida, and the Carolinas, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Warm water can act as fuel for tropical systems to rapidly intensify into powerful and destructive hurricanes. Lead Hurricane Forecaster at AccuWeather, Alex DaSilva, explained: “Sea-surface temperatures are well above historical average across much of the Atlantic basin, especially across the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, and the Main Development Region.” AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jon Porter confirmed that it is likely sea-surface temperatures across the Atlantic basin will remain well above the historical average throughout the 2024 hurricane season. Porter said,  “The Atlantic Ocean is where more than 80% of the storms form which go on to become tropical storms or hurricanes.”

    Alamu a Duniya

In the Pacific Ocean, waters are changing from the El Nino to La Nina pattern throughout most of the summer causing less wind shear in the Atlantic Ocean which actually supports development of tropical storms. In Africa, this El Nino – La Nina transition will feed as a more intense African easterly jet stream giving rise to African monsoons.

The Bermuda-Azores High pressure area may increase tropical storms and hurricanes also due to warmer oceans. This could bring more storms to the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.

    Farashin yana da yawa

The coastal areas have always been popular places to live and favorable destinations to travel to, so planning for travel as the world deals with climate change may indeed well take the weather into consideration.

In America alone, weather disasters cost billions of dollars causing widespread economic impacts. In 2020, year holder of the worst hurricane season to date when 11 hurricanes made landfall, damage and losses totaled between US$60-65 billion.

One simple word, like “cancellation” likely possible due to weather disasters, and the tourism chain topples like dominoes, from travelers to airlines, to hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, shopping venues, and transportation services.

The bottom line? During the 2024 hurricane season, plan your travels as wisely as possible with as  much information at hand as possible, including weather forecasts.

  • Haɓaka Zaman Lafiya a Lokacin Rikici a Isra'ila

How do Israelis and the international community bridge the profound gap between Israel’s pursuit of peace and the desire of its adversaries for the destruction of the Jewish people? How can we collectively strive to “give peace a chance?”

Wine: A Catalyst for Dialogue and Understanding

Various projects have emerged to promote peace and solidarity amidst turmoil, illustrating the transformative power of wine initiatives in conflict zones. In response to the recent crisis, the Israel Wine Producers Association rallied for solidarity, encouraging supporters to “take a sip for solidarity.” Through this initiative, 10 percent of sales from US distributors are allocated to Israeli relief efforts. Similarly affected were kosher California winemakers such as Herzog Wine Cellars, actively participating in fundraising endeavors to support their Israeli counterparts.

Among these initiatives, Wine for Peace in Israel has become a beacon of hope. This project showcases giyar Isra'ila brands and spearheads efforts to advocate for peace in conflict-stricken regions. Notably, the organization unites winemakers from opposing sides, facilitating collaboration to create a joint wine label. Beyond economic benefits, this initiative fosters relationships and understanding among individuals who might otherwise remain divided by conflict.

These initiatives exemplify the potential for peace to flourish, even in the most challenging circumstances. Through the shared language of wine, bridges are built, and dialogue is fostered, offering glimpses of reconciliation and harmony amidst adversity.

    Wine in the Crossfire

Impact of conflict on wine production and distribution

Vineyards in Israel face severe consequences in conflict zones that affect both wine production and distribution. The devastation of vineyards hampers winemakers’ ability to maintain their craft, while disruptions in transportation and wine trade routes limit market and consumer access. The impact of conflict on the wine industry is significant, exacerbating the challenges that wineries in these volatile areas must overcome.

Challenges faced by wineries in conflict zones

Israeli wineries in conflict-ridden regions of Israel are up against numerous challenges that threaten their survival. Security concerns require the implementation of emergency protocols, which increase operational costs and limit growth opportunities. The lack of infrastructure and resources also hinders the wine industry’s development. Despite these obstacles, these wineries demonstrate remarkable resilience, using their passion for winemaking to overcome the difficulties they face.

Wine is a target of destruction and vandalism

In times of conflict, wines, and particularly Israeli wines, often fall victim to destruction and vandalism. Extremist groups, such as Hamas, target wine due to its cultural and religious significance, seeing it as a symbol of their opposition. Wineries and wine shops become targets, with their products destroyed or confiscated. This intentional destruction of wine culture deepens the wounds of war, stripping communities of a vital aspect of their heritage and identity, and compounding their grief.

    Navigating the Intersection

When considering the ethics of consuming wine from conflict areas like Israel, it’s important to be mindful of the effects our choices have on these communities. Supporting the sale of wine from Israel can provide economic stability for wineries and help preserve cultural heritage. By choosing and enjoying their wines, we show support and foster resilience in the face of the adversity these community’s encounter.

Supporting wineries in regions like Israel not only appeals to international customers but also requires a concerted effort from consumers, wine importers, and policymakers. By encouraging importers to source Israeli wine and advocating for fair trade policies, we pave the way for these wineries to thrive. Moreover, backing organizations that extend financial and technical support to Israeli winemakers in conflict zones can profoundly influence their capacity to overcome the challenges they face.

    Wine and War: The Intersection

The intersection of war and wine culture, with a focus on Israeli wine, is intricate and layered, raising ethical considerations. It involves understanding the struggles of wineries in conflict zones like Israel, recognizing wine’s potential as a peacemaker, and considering the ethical implications of engaging in the wine trade from these areas. To navigate this complex intersection, we must find a thoughtful balance between supporting those impacted by conflict and actively seeking peace and understanding.

In the face of these threats, the Israeli government must act decisively to safeguard its winemaking industry. This may entail bolstering security at Israeli wineries, collaborating with law enforcement to track down the perpetrators, and formulating policies to fortify the winemakers and wine producers. Such proactive measures will reinforce Israel’s commitment to its wine exports and the protection of its wineries, sending an unequivocal message against terrorism and economic disruption.

    Komawa gaba

During times of conflict, supporting the wine industry in Israel may take on added significance as a means of promoting economic stability and resilience. Here are some ways we can support Israeli wines during such times:

    1.       Continue purchasing Israeli wines

Despite challenging circumstances, continuing to purchase Israeli wines sends a message of solidarity and support to the wine producers and the broader community. Look for Israeli wine brands in local stores or consider purchasing directly from wineries through online platforms.

    2.       Explore online purchasing options

If purchasing Israeli wines in person is not feasible due to safety concerns or logistical challenges, consider exploring online purchasing options. Many Israeli wineries offer online sales and shipping services, allowing consumers to support them from a distance.

    3.       Share information and advocacy

Use social media and other platforms to share information about Israeli wines, the challenges faced by the industry during times of conflict, and ways consumers can support them. Advocating for Israeli wines can help raise awareness and encourage others to show their support.

    4.       Donate to relief efforts

In addition to directly supporting the wine industry, consider donating to relief efforts to assist communities affected by conflict in Israel. Helping humanitarian organizations provide aid to affected communities can help alleviate some of the broader impacts of the conflict.

    5.       Stay informed and engaged

Stay informed about developments in the region and the wine industry in Israel. Engage in discussions about the economic and social impacts of conflict on the wine industry and explore ways to advocate long-term resilience and sustainability.

By taking action, we can support the Israeli wine industry during conflict and enable economic recovery in affected communities.

  • Rasha ta tsorata 'yan yawon bude ido da ''Sace' Amurka' a Waje

Rasha Ma'aikatar Harkokin Waje has issued a warning to Russian citizens, advising them to be “extremely cautious” when making travel plans outside of the country. This caution stems from the “potential danger” of being “arrested and extradited to the US” by the host countries.

Today, the ministry reiterated its warning to “thoroughly consider” the “potential risks” before organizing overseas trips or choosing to stay in specific countries, according to a statement provided to the Russian media.

The ministry stated that Russian citizens may face the possibility of “being captured or taken into custody” based on the request of US law enforcement agencies or specialized services. Moscow also reminded its would-be-tourists that the United States has extradition treaties with over one hundred countries worldwide, including Thailand, Egypt, Turkey, and Israel, that are frequented by Russian holidaymakers.

Certain EU restrictions on importing personal belongings and entering the bloc in cars with Russian license plates have prompted complaints from Russian travelers, according to the ministry. These import restrictions are a result of Western sanctions imposed on Russia over the war of aggression waged by Putin’s regime against neighboring Ukraine.

Foreign ministry officials emphasized the importance of Russian citizens being aware that once they travel abroad, they willingly subject themselves to the jurisdiction of foreign countries, which means they are obligated to adhere to the respective local laws and regulations.

Putin’s officials have frequently frightened Russian citizens with scary tales about the possibility of their “kidnapping” and extradition to the United States from specific nations, with those who have been “abducted” by the US often encountering an “exceedingly unfair” trial within American jurisdiction.

In recent years, the US has successfully secured the extradition of multiple Russian criminals from foreign countries, with notable examples being businessman Viktor Bout and pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko.

In 2008, a Tajik-born Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout was arrested in Thailand and extradited to the US two years later. In the United States, he was found guilty of arms trafficking and received a 25-year prison sentence.

Konstantin Yaroshenko was arrested in 2011 in Liberia, a country with a US extradition treaty, on drug smuggling charges. He was later convicted and sentenced in US court.

  • Manyan Dalilai 5 Don Tafi Kan Tafiyar Jirgin Ruwa na Tsibirin Galapagos

This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its distinct terrestrial and marine ecosystems, which have consistently drawn travelers worldwide to explore its natural wonders.

This fascination is reflected in Galapagos National Park’s report, which indicates that visitor numbers to the island grew from 73,000 in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, to a swift rise of 136,000 in 2021, nearly doubling to 267,668 in 2022 as restrictions on travel and other activities were eased.

As the Galapagos Islands welcome back visitors, let’s explore the top five reasons to take a cruise vacation to this extraordinary destination.

    1. Smooth Sailing Explorations

Taking a Galapagos cruise trip ensures a hassle-free exploration. Forget the stress of planning your route or deciding on the next destination. On a cruise, all those details are managed for you, allowing you to simply relax and soak in the stunning views from the deck.

You’ll find yourself effortlessly gliding from one island to another, each revealing its unique wonders. It’s the perfect setup for anyone looking to combine the thrill of discovery with the ease of a laid-back vacation.

    2. Witness Historical Scenic Wonders

Every turn offers a postcard-worthy view on a Galapagos cruise, from rugged lava formations and turquoise waters to beaches where sea lions lounge. It’s a scene that provides a stark contrast from the everyday landscapes you’re accustomed to.

This stunning archipelago was accidentally discovered in 1535 by Fray Tomás de Berlanga, a Spanish bishop on his way to Panama from Peru when strong currents led him to these shores. Today, as you sail these same waters, you’re offered a front-row seat to the islands’ preserved beauty, a living reminder of their serendipitous discovery.

    3. Enjoy Once-in-a-Lifetime Wildlife Encounters

As your cruise stops along the various islands of the Galapagos, you’re greeted by the incredible sight of endemic wildlife right from the get-go. These islands offer the rare chance to meet animal species you won’t find anywhere else on Earth.

Stepping off the ship, you are welcomed by the sight of giant Galapagos tortoises, marine iguanas basking on the rocks, and blue-footed boobies dancing around. While direct interaction with these wildlife is off-limits, just being able to watch these creatures in their habitat is already a highlight.

Interestingly, these very animals inspired Charles Darwin’s groundbreaking theory of evolution during his visit in 1835. Observing the unique adaptations of Galapagos species, Darwin formulated the idea that species evolve over time through natural selection to better survive in their specific environments.

These rare wildlife encounters offer a glimpse into the world’s unique biodiversity and a deeper appreciation for the natural processes that shape life on our planet.

    4. Diverse Opportunities for Adventure and Activity

The beauty of a Galapagos cruise vacation is that it packs a diverse range of activities into one trip, from snorkeling with playful sea lions and penguins to diving amidst vibrant coral reefs and hiking across ancient volcanic islands. For those seeking a more tranquil experience, simply kayaking across the Galapagos’ coastlines is also an option.

Each activity is designed to be accessible to a variety of skill levels, ensuring that whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a curious novice, you’ll find experiences on the island that are thrilling and manageable enough for you.

    5. Immerse in Unmatched Luxury and Service

From the moment you step aboard the Galapagos cruise, you’re welcomed into an environment where luxury and service are the top priorities.

The attentive and dedicated crew is always on hand, ready to cater to your every need and ensure your journey is as smooth as possible. Meal times become highlights here, with delicious food that tastes even better as you gaze out at the ocean and islands passing by. Then there’s your cabin, which is more like a cozy little escape, perfect for winding down after you’ve spent the day out exploring.

What makes the cruise trip stand out is how all these details – the service, the meals, the spaces – come together so you can just soak up the beauty of the Galapagos without stressing over the small stuff. It’s this mix of adventure and ease that really makes every moment, whether you’re on the ship or exploring ashore, something to remember.

Set Sail on a Voyage of Adventure and Serenity in the Galapagos Islands

Head out on a cruise vacation to the Galapagos Islands and find yourself amid smooth seas, incredible views, and endemic wildlife. It’s a mix of discovery and relaxation, where each day brings a new island to explore, and each night offers comfort under the stars.

Yi ajiyar your Galapagos trip now and dive into an unforgettable journey where adventure and serenity meet.

    The Sukkot Festival

    Significance of Sukkot

Sukkot holds significant cultural and religious importance within Judaism, characterized by dancing, singing, and the ceremonial unveiling of Torah scrolls, often accompanied by a glass of wine symbolizing joy, prosperity, and gratitude. It demonstrates the community’s perseverance and solidarity in the face of challenges. The role of wine in bringing people together, bridging differences, and fostering connections highlights the poignant nexus of conflict, vineyards, and wine culture. However, in conflict-affected regions, Sukkot festivities pose unique challenges, serving as a litmus test for the resilience of Jewish culture amidst adversity.

    No Wine. No Celebration

Challenges faced in celebrating Simchat Torah in a conflict zone

Celebrating Simchat Torah in a conflict zone comes with significant challenges. The constant risk of rocket attacks and the need for strict security measures cast a shadow over the festivities. Access to vital elements of the ritual, such as Israeli wine, can be disrupted by blockades and security issues, making it difficult for the community to engage fully in the traditions. Despite these hurdles, the determination to uphold cultural practices and find joy in adversity reflects the community’s resilience, often mirrored in the commitment seen in military service.

    Wineries Targeted by Hamas

Israel’s wineries have burgeoned into a thriving sector, contributing over $50 million to the country’s economy. Since October 7, 2023, the industry has faced a unique challenge as many of its key personnel, including winemakers, viticulturists, staff, and even family members, have been called for military service, leaving grapes on the vine and wine in vats awaiting processing.

As these dedicated individuals answer the call to serve their nation, those remaining behind in the wineries shoulder the responsibility of maintaining operations. Working tirelessly, often juggling multiple roles and additional jobs, they strive to ensure continuity in production despite the absence of their colleagues and loved ones who bravely defend border communities and serve on active duty. Their unwavering commitment ensures that Israel’s winemaking tradition perseveres even in the face of adversity.

    Wineries: An Important Economic Engine

The growth of the wine industry has not gone unnoticed by those who seek to undermine Israel’s stability. On October 7, Hamas, Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, targeted several wineries in an attempt to disrupt the country’s economy and cause fear among its citizens. This act of aggression not only poses a threat to the wineries themselves but also to the overall economy of Israel.

The Israeli wine industry has seen significant growth and recognition in recent years, with its wines gaining international acclaim. The targeted wineries have worked hard to establish a reputation for producing high-quality wines that can compete on a global scale. This attack by Hamas not only damages the physical infrastructure of these wineries but also tarnishes their reputation and potentially puts their future success at risk.

Furthermore, the impact of these attacks extends beyond the wineries themselves. The wine industry is an important part of Israel’s economy, contributing to job creation and tourism. By targeting wineries, Hamas seeks to disrupt this vital sector and undermine the overall economic stability of the country. Residents have fled the region by the tens of thousands. If they decide it will never be safe enough to return home, it will affect the economy in these places in the long run in a way that could be lethal.

While Israel may achieve its military objectives in the south, the prospect of economic recovery in the north remains uncertain. This conflict transcends mere victory; it’s about restoring a sense of safety and normalcy for Israelis to conduct their businesses and live their lives without fear.

Agricultural operations along the Lebanon border are currently inaccessible. A Golan Heights winery, which employs 130 individuals, including 12 reservists called up for active duty, faces significant production delays. With approximately 360,000 reservists mobilized, labor shortages are widespread, impacting various sectors.

Following military orders to evacuate border areas, wineries closed. Daily access to the facility requires permission from the Israeli military. The greatest concerns are vineyards, with 90% situated along the border and currently inaccessible. Pruning, a crucial step in winemaking, typically occurs in winter. However, due to the conflict with Hezbollah, access to the vineyards is restricted by the military. While postponing pruning may be feasible for a short period, there’s a natural deadline approaching. Grapevines will begin pushing leaves by the end of March or early April, necessitating pruning before then to maintain vine health and ensure a successful harvest.

How wine culture is intertwined with Simchat Torah celebrations.

  • Sha'awar Carnival tare da Sabbin Jirgin Ruwa na Jirgin Ruwa na Ajiye na Excel yana Biya

Carnival Corporation & plc has contracted with Meyer Werft shipyard to construct a fifth Excel-class cruise ship for its Carnival Cruise Line brand.

The cruise ship is scheduled to be delivered in 2028. Earlier in February, Carnival Corporation revealed the order for the first new build in five years and confirmed the addition of a fourth Excel-class ship to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in Spring 2027. With this latest announcement, the corporation will have 11 Excel-class ships across four of its renowned brands, with Carnival Cruise Line operating five of them.

According to Christine Duffy, the president of Carnival Cruise Line, the line’s Excel-class fleet will soon consist of five ships. Since the launch of Mardi Gras in 2021, followed by Carnival Celebration in 2022 and Carnival Jubilee in 2023, these Excel-class ships have generated enormous excitement and demand and received high guest satisfaction ratings.

With the forthcoming introduction of Carnival Firenze in April, the line will achieve the addition of five ships to its fleet in under 20 months, marking the completion of this phase of growth.

The upcoming vessel, the fifth in the Excel-class series, will utilize the same foundation as its counterparts. This 180,000-ton ship will be propelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and can accommodate more than 6,400 passengers and 1,800 crew members.

According to Josh Weinstein, CEO of Kamfanin Carnival & plc, the new order aims to strikes a balance between growth and responsible capital usage. The company plans to utilize strong free cash flow over the next few years to strategically enhance its balance sheet, reduce leverage levels, and shift value from debt holders to shareholders.

Weinstein emphasized that Carnival Cruise Line is performing exceptionally well and focuses on adding capacity in line with market demand. The company plans to gradually increase capacity by adding one to two ships per year starting in 2027. Weinstein also mentioned that additional fleet plans will be identified in the coming months to meet capacity demand and improve operational execution, resulting in a higher return on invested capital.

The new order is contingent upon financing, which is expected to be completed later this year.

  • Tukwici na balaguro da na ƙasashen waje

To have a good vacation, you need to prepare for it properly and know the rules of behavior in another country. Planning is basically a huge part of a successful trip. Proper preparation requires knowledge and experience. Not all travelers possess it, as many of them are just about to go on their very first journey. Even when you’re an experienced traveler, you might be confused regarding some of the aspects. We’ve consulted experienced travelers and created a list of the most practical tips and hacks to help you to organize a vacation which will only bring you positive emotions. If you want to have all this data available and use the internet freely wherever you are, get an international esim by eSimPlus. Esim card for international travel can be considered a good hack itself. This is an efficient way to stay in touch while traveling abroad.

Now, let’s continue with useful traveling hacks and tips.

    Planning

To plan your vacation, consider using a dedicated app or notes on your smartphone. Some people prefer to create multiple folders on their device. In one of the folders, they keep information about their flight, such as numbers and schedule. In a different folder they store the addresses of hotels. Experienced travelers often prefer to write down their expenses in order to analyze them later.

Another good tip is to choose an experienced guide to help you make the most of your time. A guide can help you to plan the best routes and provide information about the most important attractions. As a result, you will be able to reduce the time spent searching for them.

    shiryawa

Tourists need to know what items to bring and the best ways to pack them. Create a short list of what things you will need for your vacation, taking into account the time of year. Avoid taking too much, otherwise you will have to carry a large suitcase that you will definitely not fully use. If the luggage is too big, think about what you can do without, and leave it at home.

You should also pack your money and documents, which is obvious. First aid kit can also be really useful. Don’t forget some small essentials like hygiene products, wet wipes, device chargers, a bottle of water, etc.

To pack your items efficiently, you should follow some of the rules. Firstly, make a list of your items, analyze the way you can combine your stuff, separate your suitcases and your hand luggage. We recommend putting bulky things on the bottom of your suitcase. What is more, you’d better place fragile objects in the middle of your suitcase or bag and small objects will be safer inside your shoes. Wrap your large objects in clothes.

    Harshe

It is possible to overcome the language barrier abroad quite quickly if you already speak the language at a certain level. You should try to express yourself more in that language, as well as listen more carefully to others’ speech. The easiest way to do this is through communication with merchants, who are used to dealing with tourists. You could also watch a play or movie in a foreign language in order to better immerse yourself in that culture. If your level of language is low, then simply learn some basic phrases and their pronunciation beforehand.

It would be helpful if you could learn how to say “please”, “thank you”, “sorry”, and “I’m sorry”. If you have trouble communicating with the locals, they will certainly appreciate the effort you have made to try and communicate with them in their native language.

If you don’t feel like doing this as well, you can just use an AI online translator to show local citizens.

    Accommodation

You can register on Airbnb, choose the appropriate price and book accommodation in advance. If you like new acquaintances, then a service like Couchsurfing is an ideal option. Couchsurfing can even be free, as locals on this platform offer tourists their rooms in exchange for socializing. It sounds a little odd, but it works. The main thing is to read reviews on this or that host in order to ensure your safety and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

    Food

Let’s start with airports and train stations. Take a snack and a bottle of water with you in advance. This way you won’t spend half of your salary on a sandwich. This is especially important if you have to wait a long time. It is advisable to take something light and compact so as not to spill the contents over the bag and not take up extra space.

Street food is not harmful to your health. In fact, there are several reasons why you should try it. For instance, in Thailand, street food is considered a form of culinary art that in many ways exceeds the dishes served in the most expensive restaurants. Furthermore, it is always a good idea to taste the traditional cuisine of the destination you are visiting.

Ask the locals where they like to eat. Usually there are places within a few blocks where tourists are too lazy to get to. The dishes are the same there, but they are much cheaper.

    Entertainment

To make your trip memorable, visit interesting places. You can find out about them in advance, from thematic forums, websites, social networks, as well as from friends and acquaintances. Create a travel plan, take pictures, and document your impressions and feelings. Little is known about some interesting places, so it’s worth trying to find unusual sites. To do this, you can contact foreign websites for information, as well as ask local residents for advice. Be open-minded and try to get out of the hotel more often.

When going on a trip, it’s important to plan your route ahead of time, pack only the essentials, learn the local language, and take good care of your health and safety. Have a nice journey!

  • Hanyar Gaba: Kewaya Juyawa Zuwa Dogayen Sufuri

As we cruise down the timeline of progress, the landscape is shifting dramatically towards a future where the roar of engines harmonizes with the whisper of the wind. The journey towards sustainable transportation is not just a fleeting trend but a necessary evolution in how we view mobility. This transformation is powered by innovation, policy shifts, and a collective desire to tread lightly on our planet.

    The Electric Dream: Charging Ahead

The heart of this revolution beats with the surge of electricity. Electric Vehicles (EVs) are no longer the distant future; they are the present, accelerating us toward cleaner skies and quieter streets. This shift is not merely about replacing the fuel in our tanks; it’s about reimagining the very essence of personal and public transportation. The allure of EVs lies in their simplicity, efficiency, and the promise of reducing our carbon footprint. As charging infrastructure becomes more ubiquitous and technology leaps forward, the dream of widespread EV adoption is closer than ever.

Autonomy on the Horizon: Self-Driving EVs

The narrative of sustainable transportation is incomplete without mentioning the technological symphony of self-driving vehicles. This burgeoning field promises to redefine our relationship with cars, turning commute time into productive or restful moments. The fusion of electric powertrains with autonomous technology represents the pinnacle of transportation efficiency and safety. Here, we see how self-driving EVs are reshaping transportation, creating a future where cars are not just tools of convenience but stewards of sustainability.

    The Green Policy: Government’s Role

Government policies worldwide are steering the wheel towards a greener future. Through regulations, subsidies, and research funding, public authorities are crucial catalysts in the transition to sustainable transportation. These policies are not just about nudging consumers and manufacturers; they’re about laying the foundation for a comprehensive ecosystem where sustainable vehicles thrive. From emissions standards to investments in clean energy, the role of policy is indispensable in crafting the road ahead.

The Incentive Highway: Making EVs Irresistible

Perhaps the most direct route to accelerating EV adoption is through incentives. EV incentives by state offer a variety of financial benefits designed to make electric cars an attractive choice for consumers. These incentives range from tax breaks and rebates to perks like HOV lane access and reduced registration fees. By offsetting the initial cost barrier and enhancing the ownership experience, these benefits are pivotal in steering the public’s preference toward electric vehicles. These incentives stand out as a beacon for potential EV buyers, illuminating the path to making an eco-friendly choice.

    Charging Forward: Infrastructure for Tomorrow

The backbone of the electric revolution is undoubtedly the charging infrastructure. The expansion of charging stations is critical in fostering confidence among potential EV owners. This network not only needs to be widespread but also technologically equipped to offer fast and convenient charging solutions. As we envision a landscape dotted with charging points, the dream of long road trips in electric cars becomes a palpable reality. It is absolutely essential to understand how infrastructure development is keeping pace with the EV boom, ensuring that the transition is as smooth as the drive of an electric car.

Green Wheels: The Sustainable Lifestyle Choice

Choosing sustainable transportation extends beyond the vehicle itself; it’s a lifestyle choice that echoes a commitment to environmental stewardship. Opting for green vehicles influences other aspects of daily life, from energy consumption to urban planning. It’s about creating a culture that values sustainability, where each mile driven in an electric or hybrid vehicle contributes to a larger goal of reducing our ecological footprint. With the environment and climate crisis at the forefront of everyone’s mind, it’s clear that EVs are the sound choice for a sustainable future.

Harnessing Renewable Energies: The Power Behind the Movement

The march towards sustainable transportation is significantly powered by the shift towards renewable energy sources. The electrification of transportation hinges on the ability of our power grids to supply clean, sustainable energy—making the role of wind, solar, and hydroelectric power more critical than ever. This transition aims not only to electrify vehicles but to ensure that the electricity they use contributes to a reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions. Innovations in energy storage and smart grid technologies are crucial in this regard, enabling the efficient distribution and utilization of renewable energy. The integration of renewable energy sources with the electric vehicle charging infrastructure exemplifies a holistic approach to sustainability, ensuring that the journey towards electric mobility is as green as the vehicles themselves. As renewable energy becomes more accessible and affordable, it empowers consumers to make eco-friendly choices, further propelling the adoption of electric vehicles and contributing to a sustainable future.

The Circular Economy: Rethinking Vehicle Lifecycle

A sustainable transportation future also requires us to rethink the entire lifecycle of vehicles, from production to disposal. The concept of a circular economy plays a pivotal role here, emphasizing the need for vehicles that are not only powered by clean energy but are also made from sustainable materials and designed to be fully recyclable or reusable at the end of their life. Manufacturers are increasingly focusing on reducing the environmental impact of their production processes, utilizing recycled materials, and designing vehicles for easier disassembly. This shift towards sustainability in manufacturing extends to battery production as well, with a growing emphasis on the use of eco-friendly materials and processes. Additionally, the development of second-life applications for EV batteries and recycling programs for these power sources is crucial for minimizing waste and reducing the demand for raw materials. By embracing the principles of the circular economy, the automotive industry is moving towards a future where vehicles contribute positively to the environment throughout their entire lifecycle, making sustainable transportation a truly holistic endeavor.

    Tafiya ta Ci gaba

As we navigate the shift towards sustainable transportation, the road ahead is both exciting and challenging. This transformation requires the collective effort of manufacturers, policymakers, and consumers. Each step forward, from adopting an electric vehicle to supporting green policies, is a leap towards a cleaner, more sustainable world. The journey is long, but with innovation as our compass and sustainability as our destination, the future of transportation is bright. Let’s dive into this green horizon together, embracing the changes that promise to redefine our roads and our planet.

  • Jamhuriyar Czech ta Amince da Lamunin Rikodin Biliyan 24 don Zamantakewar Jirgin Ruwa

In a landmark move, the Czech Republic has secured a substantial loan from the Bankin Zuba Jari na Turai, signaling a bold step towards modernizing its railway infrastructure.

The loan, totaling an impressive 24 billion crowns (1,026,581,040.00 USD), has been allocated to propel the comprehensive modernization of the Czech railways, with an ambitious target set for completion by 2027.

Formalized through an agreement with the Ma'aikatar Kuɗi, this funding is designated for a diverse portfolio of forty distinct railway projects.

These projects aim to revitalize various facets of the railway system, ranging from safety enhancements at level crossings to bolstering cybersecurity for the railway company and facilitating the construction of new stations and infrastructure.

Beyond its monetary value, the significance of this loan lies in its potential to unlock further financial support, including aid from the European Union.

The Railway Administration will oversee the distribution of these funds, ensuring they are channeled effectively to vital aspects of the railway network.

The modernization initiative promises a host of benefits, including increased maximum speeds and capacity along segments of the Trans-European Transport Network.

The Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) is a proposed network within the European Union comprising roads, railways, airports, and water infrastructure. It is part of a larger system called Trans-European Networks (TENs), which also includes telecommunications (eTEN) and a proposed energy network (TEN-E or Ten-Energy). The European Commission initiated plans for these networks in 1990.

This enhancement is expected to strengthen transportation links between different regions within the European Union, fostering greater connectivity and economic integration.

Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura, representing the ODS, has hailed the loan as a strategically prudent move, particularly in light of the nation’s current budget deficit.

Stanjura emphasized, “Through the favorable terms of the European Investment Bank’s loan, featuring lower interest rates, we can allocate resources to long-term, strategically important investments. This, in turn, allows us to allocate state budget funds to other pressing priorities.”

Kris Peeters, vice-president of the European Investment Bank, anticipates that the modernized rail services will encourage a shift from road to rail transport, thereby contributing to a reduction in adverse environmental impacts.

The Czech Republic’s endeavor to upgrade its railway network aligns with broader European efforts, with countries like France and Italy also pursuing ambitious plans to enhance their high-speed railway systems.

The Czech Republic’s rail transport system is robust, handling 193.5 million passengers and 68.37 million tonnes of cargo in 2019 and 2009 respectively. The majority of passenger services are operated by the state-owned company České dráhy, while ČD Cargo manages cargo services.

With 9,420 km of standard gauge track, 3,153 km of which is electrified, the country has two main electrification systems: 3 kV DC in the north and 25 kV 50 Hz AC in the south.

The network is interconnected with all four neighboring countries (Slovakia, Austria, Jamus, Da kuma Poland), with major hubs in Prague, Ostrava, Brno, and Břeclav. Praha hlavní nádraží is the busiest station. The maximum speed on Czech rails is 160 km/h (99mph).

Rail transport in what is now the Czech Republic has roots dating back to the Austro-Hungarian empire.

The region saw early developments, including the first horse-drawn railway in Europe between České Budějovice and Linz in 1832. By the late 19th century, the rail network expanded rapidly across Europe.

Following the First World War and Czechoslovakia’s independence, Československé státní dráhy (Czechoslovak state railways) was established. During the Cold War era, border crossings with Austria and West Germany were tightly controlled.

However, after the fall of communism, the railway network reopened to Western Europe, with the introduction of EuroCity trains in 1991.

In the 21st century, extensive modernizations have been undertaken, including the introduction of newer rolling stock like the Class 680 “pendolino.”

  • Shin yaƙin yaƙi da barasa na Kenya zai cutar da yawon buɗe ido?

The controversial campaign to shut down numerous bars and breweries throughout Kenya has been justified by the government as a crucial step in their ongoing kokarin to combat alcoholism and substance abuse.

Kenyan government has shut down more than 18,000 establishments and confiscated brewing equipment as part of an initiative that was implemented on March 6. Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki maintains that the government has the power to revoke licenses, and any documentation issued in violation of the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act of 2010 is considered invalid.

258 suspects have been apprehended and brought to court as a result of the nationwide law enforcement initiative. Furthermore, authorities have confiscated 15 kilograms of cannabis, and a total of 22 pharmacies have been closed down.

Approximately 5,000 liquor outlets have been closed and their licenses revoked by the authorities due to their proximity to educational institutions and churches. Last Sunday, a local news agency reported that alcohol has been completely banned in the town of Karatina in Nyeri.

Meanwhile, regional governors have expressed their discontent with Nairobi’s decision to shut down bars that have obtained licenses from local authorities, resulting in a controversial campaign.

Since the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act was implemented in 2010, it has brought about strict enforcement measures such as the regulation of bar operating hours, stringent licensing requisites, and the imposition of severe penalties. Nevertheless, these laws have been openly violated since their inception.

The government has recently introduced stricter penalties for bars that remain open beyond their designated operating hours. In Kenya, bars are allowed to operate between 5pm and 11pm on weekdays, and from 2pm to 11pm on weekends. However, until recently, these regulations were not consistently enforced.

  • Mumbai ta kawar da Beijing a matsayin Babban Babban Biliyan Asiya

The Shanghai-based Hurun Research Institute’s global rich list, published this week, reveals that Mumbai, the financial hub of India, has surpassed Beijing to become the ‘billionaire capital’ of Asia.

With a total of 92 billionaires, Mumbai now holds the third-highest number of billionaires in the world, following New York (119) and London (97). In a significant development, New Delhi, the capital of India, has entered the top ten for the first time.

Hurun Report stated that India experienced a remarkably successful year with a surge in economic confidence to unprecedented levels. It further highlighted the significant role played by artificial intelligence (AI) in driving this trend, contributing to more than fifty percent of the new wealth generated during the year.

According to the latest data, Mukesh Ambani, the proprietor of Reliance Industries, a prominent Indian conglomerate, continues to hold his status as the wealthiest individual in India, boasting a total net worth of $115 billion. Notably, this also positions him as the wealthiest person in all of Asia. Ambani made significant news coverage recently due to the extravagant pre-wedding celebration of his youngest son, Anant. Gautam Adani, the chairman of Adani Group, secures the second spot on the list of wealthiest Indians with a fortune of $86 billion, experiencing a remarkable surge of 33% in his wealth.

Currently, India has a total of 271 billionaires, making it the third-highest country in terms of billionaire count globally. It follows China, which has 814 billionaires, and the US, with 800 billionaires.

The number billionaires in South Asian country has increased dramatically since the country implemented economic policy reforms in 1991, allowing for greater foreign investment. However, the wealth gap between the top 1% and the rest of the population has reached unprecedented levels. According to a recent research, the wealth inequality in India is now even greater than during the period of British colonial rule, with the top 1% of the population holding a 40.1% share of the national wealth in the year 2022-23.

The Indian economy is experiencing significant strengthening, with a remarkable GDP growth rate of 8.4% from October to December 2023, marking the fastest pace in six quarters. Several analysts predict that within the next three years, India will emerge as the world’s third-largest economy.

  • EU ta sanya haɗin gwiwar ITA tare da Lufthansa

The concern raised is that this move may lead to increased prices for customers and a decrease in service quality. The Hukumar Tarayyar Turai competition services have outlined the objections and unresolved issues before approving the merger of the two companies. The final decision is expected by June 6.

Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A., dba ITA Airways, is Italy’s flag carrier. It is owned by the Government of Italy via the Ministry of Economy and Finance and was founded in 2020 as bankrupt Alitalia’s successor. The airline flies to over 70 scheduled domestic, European, and intercontinental destinations

The European Commission has highlighted three potential areas of concern

The alliance might reduce competition on specific short-haul routes connecting Italy with Central European countries, diminish competition on specific long-haul routes between Italy and the United States, Canada, and Japan, and potentially reinforce ITA’s dominant position at Milan-Linate Airport.

    https://eturbonews.com/ita-lufthansa-operation-at-risk-of-failure/

Until the European Commission approves, Lufthansa’s investment of 325 million Euros in acquiring a 41% stake in ITA remains on hold, as do the commercial synergies between ITA and Lufthansa’s network.

Lufthansa and the Italian Ministry of Economy can present “remedies” to the competition concerns raised by the integration between Lufthansa and ITA, as listed in the statement of objections, by April 26, 2024.

In response to the pending document from Brussels, on Saturday, March 23, the Italian Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti criticized the EU Commission, accusing it of obstructing the agreement between Lufthansa and ITA by stating:

“For ten months, we have been struggling with Europe, which does not allow us to create a European champion capable of competing with international giants.”

In a swift response, Margrethe Vestager, Vice President of the European Commission, stated:

    Emerging vs. Competition

“If you review the history of merger approvals in my ten years at the European Commission, you will see that numerous large companies have been created through mergers. This happens because very often it is possible to approve a merger while preserving competition.”

The European Commission’s document emphasizes that Lufthansa and ITA operate extensive networks of routes from their respective hubs in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.

Lufthansa has a joint venture with United Airlines and Air Canada for transatlantic routes and with All Nippon Airways for routes to Japan.

Joint venture partners coordinate pricing, capacity, scheduling, and revenue sharing.

    ITA could limit competition

Brussels initiated an in-depth investigation on January 23 to assess whether Lufthansa’s acquisition of a stake in ITA could limit competition in passenger air transport services to and from Italy.

Following the investigation, the Commission is concerned that the operation could reduce competition on certain short-haul routes connecting Italy with Central European countries.

Lufthansa and ITA compete head-to-head on such routes, mainly with direct and indirect flights.

There could also be less competition on long-haul routes between Italy and the United States, Canada, and Japan, with low-cost carriers being the main rivals on some of these routes.

The agreement may reduce competition on specific long-haul routes between Italy and the United States, Canada, and Japan, where ITA and Lufthansa, along with their joint venture partners, compete directly or indirectly.

After the merger, the Commission considers the activities of ITA, Lufthansa, and their joint venture partners as those of a single entity.

    ITA’s Dominant Milan Hub

This could create or reinforce ITA’s dominant position at Milan-Linate Airport, making it more challenging for competitors to provide passenger air transport services to and from there.

Brussels adds that millions of passengers travel on these routes annually, and the annual expenditure is over 3 billion euros.

The Commission aims to ensure that the operation “does not have negative effects on customers – consumers and businesses – in terms of price increases or service quality reductions.”

The Commission “fears that, without adequate remedies, eliminating ITA as an independent airline could negatively affect competition in these already concentrated markets.

Routes that raise potential concerns represent a small percentage of the total short- and long-haul routes and passengers served by both parties and their joint venture partners, and possible concerns do not affect the vast majority of routings operated by ITA.

Lufthansa remains confident that the operation will ultimately be approved.

  • Otal-otal a Maroko: Ƙarin Sahihanci

With United Airlines starting non-stop flights from Newark to Marrakesh, Morocco will become an easy-to-reach travel and tourism destination for Americans.

With French, German, and Middle Eastern tourism and even Israeli tourism, Morocco has a mixed calculation when it comes to accommodation. It ranges from 5-star name-brand hotels to boarding houses.

Major hotel brands are primarily located in the larger cities and include Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Marriott International, Accor SA, W Hospitality Group, Movenpick, and Radisson Hotel Group.

As tourists turn to more authentic travel adventures, Morocco finds itself on the unique receiving end as a hot destination to do just that. Currently, 36 hotel projects are being constructed, adding over 6,300 rooms to available accommodations.

    https://eturbonews.com/culture-connects-such-as-tourism-the-qatar-morocco-case/

Between now and 2028, Morrocco anticipates 4.4 million more tourist arrivals, a whopping 85% more, resulting in around 9.5 million tourists by 2028. Currently, the hotel industry brings in US$0.81 billion and is anticipated to grow to US$1.12 billion by 2029.

Interest in 3-, 4-, and 5-star accommodations is rising, and hotel companies such as W Hospitality Group rank Morocco as one of its top countries with many hotel construction projects planned for the near future. Radisson Hotel Group plans to open 14 new properties within the next six years, bringing the total number of its hotels in the country to 25.

Most hotels in Morocco have something in common: Giving a more authentic travel experience, and the desert mountain country of 1001 nights knows how.

In the world of 5-star hotels, Marriott Hotels has only three properties in Morrocco right now, one each in Casablanca, Rabat, and Fes, while Movenpick Hotels & Resorts also has 3 in Casablanca, Marrakesh, and Tangier.

Casablanca is one of the largest of the three more popular cities, offering hotel accommodations from upscale to local guesthouses.

Marrakech is more known for its traditional Moroccan houses with interior gardens or courtyards (riads), although it, too, offers a mix of boutique to luxury hotels.

The well-preserved town of Fes offers an authentic Moroccan experience with historic riads converted into hotels.

Tourism has become the second largest GDP contributor in the nation, bringing in close to US$9 billion in revenue.

Hamas Ta Hana Yahudawa: Tasiri kan Masana'antar Giya ta Isra'ila yayin da ake ci gaba da kai hare-hare

Israel. Prelude to October 7, 2023

Before October 7, 2023, Israel had cultivated a positive international image, merging its rich history and dynamic culture with its technological advancements. As a symbol of progress and innovation, Israel’s features were widely acknowledged and celebrated in the Middle East and around the world.

Attended by 3,000 to 4,000 people in an open-air space in Israel’s Negev Desert, located approximately 3- miles from the Gaza border, the Rave included 16 internationally renowned DJs who intended to spin in darkness and light for 15 straight hours. The event was timed to celebrate the end of Sukkot, a weeklong Jewish fête commemorating the harvest and the period after the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt.  The idea that anything dangerous or deadly would take place — even given the location so close to Gaza — barely crossed anyone’s mind.

Biki. Biki tare da Tashin hankali

Sukkot is usually marked by lively parades, song, and dance. In 2023, a grand celebration was scheduled for October 7, featuring a Rave near the Gaza zone, aimed at fostering unity and peace amidst persistent conflict.

This courageous program based on love and joy, inadvertently turned empty desert-like space into a killing zone, destroying the lives of thousands of Israelis and turning the economy of Israel upside down. The Supernova festival was not just the worst Israeli civilian massacre ever, but the deadliest concert attack in history.

    Hamas’s Genocidal Intention

Hamas, a militant group formed in the late 1980s, has caused ongoing tension in the region. Their manifesto with 36 articles details their goals, strategies, and explicit genocidal intentions towards Israel. To understand the complex dynamics between Hamas, Israel, and the Jewish people, it is important to examine Hamas’s core beliefs, including advocating for Israel’s destruction, promoting jihad, rejecting peace talks, and spreading anti-Semitic rhetoric. Khaled Mashaal, a Hamas leader based in Qatar, emphasized their hardline stance in a 2012 speech by stating that the state will only come through resistance and not negotiation. He also declared that Palestine belongs entirely to them and that they will never recognize the legitimacy of Israeli occupation. “There will be no concession on any inch of the land. We will never recognize the legitimacy of the Israeli occupation, and therefore there is no legitimacy for Israel… We will free Jerusalem inch by inch, stone by stone. Israel has no right to be in Jerusalem” (wilsoncenter.org).

Kin amincewa: Daidaitawa, Takurawa, Tattaunawa, da Zaman Lafiya

The inflexible stance of Hamas, characterized by their refusal to engage in peace negotiations, exacerbates the violence and conflict. Their unwavering position hampers progress toward peace, posing a significant challenge for those trying to balance the intricate relationship between war and the economy. Addressing this issue requires a sophisticated strategy that embraces peace as a goal while acknowledging the brutal impact of Hamas attacks and the threat posed by Hamas terrorists.

  • Ministan Yawon shakatawa na Jamaica Ya Bukaci Shirye-Shiryen Masu Yawon Bude Guda Miliyan 5

The call has been made even as players in the industry, such as Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises (SMTEs), have grossed more than $1 billion since the Tourism Linkages Network, a division of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) implemented its annual Speed Networking initiative. The TEF is a public body of the Ministry of Tourism.

In a recent address at the 9th staging of the Speed Networking Event, delivered on his behalf by Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ms. Jennifer Griffith, Minister Bartlett expressed that the event was being hosted “at a time when Jamaica is experiencing its best ever tourism performance in terms of arrivals, inclusive of cruise passengers, stopovers and US dollar earnings.”

He noted that Speed Networking had become one of the most anticipated calendar events created by the Tourism Linkages Network “in a continued bid to strengthen linkages and increase business between the tourism industry and local suppliers of goods and services from other sectors.”

This objective is being achieved through collaboration with the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters’ Association (JMEA) and other partner entities, including the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC).

Participation has been consistent, with over 150 participants, representing tourism entities, suppliers and HR Managers, registered for this year’s event, staged recently at the Montego Bay Convention Centre.

He cited that last year, “94% of hotels surveyed as tourism buyers said they were satisfied with the products presented to them,” while “80% of tourism suppliers reported receiving business leads from their participation in the Speed Networking Event.”

Also pointing to “a significant increase in business” for the sector, Executive Director of the JHTA, Mrs Camille Needham recalled that: “When we started Speed Networking we knew we were onto something because it was, from the outset, established to bring the tourist industry together with the suppliers of goods, services and products.” She also shared that “over the years, the success of this event, and the reports we have received from those who have participated have really been heart-warming.”

In a testimonial, Chief Executive Officer of HoneyVera, Ms Christal-Ann Thompson said her participation in the Speed Networking Event over the years has helped to boost her business. She outlined that from just two products when the company started in 2013, it now manufactures over 50 products that are also marketed internationally.

Buyers ranged from small hotels to large international chains, most of which are repeat participants. Purchasing Manager at Deja Resort, Samuel Bowen said the hotel has been participating from the inception and reaping many benefits. “We were able to make some very good connections in terms of suppliers, and currently we have one supplier who has been with us from the very beginning and it has benefitted us greatly,” he acknowledged.

Meanwhile, Retail Manager for Secrets and Breathless Resorts, Damion Stewart who has been attending the event for the last 3 years, described the benefits as “amazing,” adding that: “This is one of the main ways that we use to meet local suppliers that are aspiring to be part of the gift shop and the hotels’ operations, so this is very important for us.”

He said the property was very big on sustainability and local suppliers were a big part of that and “every year we try to increase our local suppliers’ presence by at least 10%.”

    • 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary since the end of the Vietnam war, the first of a series of geopolitical events that led to the guns falling silent in Indochina after decades of conflict. Travel & Tourism played a key role in the post-war economic reconstruction process. Today, all the former war-torn countries (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) are members of ASEAN, with booming Travel & Tourism sectors.
    • 2025 will mark the last year of the “ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together” roadmap and collection of blueprints covering economic, politics and security, society and culture, and connectivity. It will be a good chance to evaluate the progress in Travel & Tourism and plan a new strategy built around the concept of promoting Peace and Trust rather than just growing economies or creating jobs. That could make ASEAN the first regional bloc to do so, and no doubt lead others to join the bandwagon globally.
    • The ASEAN 2025 Blueprint was originally adopted at the annual ASEAN leaders summit in Kuala Lumpur in November 2015. In 2025, the ASEAN Tourism Forum will also be held in Malaysia (Johor state). That makes it a perfect place to officially launch the IYPT and unveil a roster of activities by which Travel & Tourism can build Peace and Trust. Intra-regional tourism is projected to play a significant role in keeping the 10-nation bloc’s economies on even keel, even more so if it can be used as a vehicle to get Myanmar, the vital weak link in the ASEAN chain, to deal with its internal problems.
    • 2025 will be only five years from the 2030 target of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Although those goals have been officially declared unreachable in totality, it should not prevent ASEAN tourism from striving to achieve its own goals, especially SDG #16 (Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development). The industry can reprioritize the five Ps of the SDGs to put PEACE at the top and then forge the PARTNERSHIPS to create PROSPERITY for the PEOPLE and also preserve the PLANET.

UNWTO is now UN-Tourism, and there seems to have been an even more significant incentive for UNWTO or better UN-Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili to push for this questionable rebranding recently.

The Hukumar Tarayyar Turai is investigating the potential misuse of EU funds in Spain’s Koldo corruption scandal, also known as Operation Delorme.

In March 2024, the Spanish parliament approved a new committee to investigate the case.

Operation Delorme is an illegal organization that benefited from health contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain.

This scandal revolves around large sums of money in commissions connected to purchasing face masks during the pandemic, which is linked to embezzling millions of Euros involving high-level officials. The European Commission has shared pertinent details with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF).

“The Commission will take all necessary steps to protect the EU budget and has zero tolerance against fraud,” a spokesperson for the European executive told Euractiv’s partner EFE on Wednesday.

José Luis Abalos still denies any involvement in what is known as Operation Delorme. José Luis Ábalos Meco is a Spanish politician of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, serving as a Member of the Congress of Deputies since 2009. He served as minister in Spain from 2018 to 2021 in the cabinets chaired by President Pedro Sánchez.

The key suspect, Koldo García Izaguirre, was known as the right-hand man of abalos, who was transport minister until he was removed without reason in 2021.

Abalos admits that Aldama, arrested in the ‘Koldo case,’ frequently appeared at the Spanish Ministry of Transport when Abalos was a minister.

    https://eturbonews.com/criminal-corruption-in-spain-un-tourism-sg-in-trouble/

Aldama was made the Honorary Consul of Georgia, apparently arranged by the UNWTO (now UN-Tourism) Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, who himself served as the Georgia Ambassador to Spain, Andorra, and Morocco before he won a controversial election to become UNWTO Secretary-General on Jan 1, 2018.

The diplomatic mission is listed as the Georgian Honorary Consulate in Zamora
Calle de Riego, 13. 1º B 49004, Zamora, Spain with an email [email kariya]

    Who is Who?

Babban sakataren kungiyar Kungiyar Yawon shakatawa ta Duniya is a “close” friend of Miguel Hildago, a UNWTO (now UN-Tourism) Executive from Mexico. Hidalgo was later named CEO

The alleged ringleader of the Koldo plot, Víctor Gonzalo de Aldama, emerged three weeks ago as a critical person in the investigation.

The president of Zamora C.F., detained by the Central Operative Unit (UCO), was one of the businessmen who allegedly benefited from the illegal mask scam during COVID allegedly negotiated at the official residence of the former Minister of Transport, José Luis Abalos.

Ábalos, with whom Zurab forged a close personal relationship, was seen attending the businessman’s 60th birthday party at his restaurant.

    Air Europe Rescue

This served as the gateway to the Ministry’s offices, where he held meetings as part of the Government delegation. It was also the prelude to his role in the negotiations before the rescue of Air Europa, as reported before his claims were revealed.

However, one of the most surprising parts of the scam must have been Aldama’s status as honorary consul of Georgia, which was granted to him in June 2021 and was withdrawn just a week ago, in March 2024, according to diplomatic sources.

The Honorary Consul allowed Spanish Foreign Affairs to issue him the diplomatic DNI, which holders show on their trips and international contacts as support for their businesses. It brings them certain benefits in terms of visas or tax exemptions, depending on the country they deal with.

The Aldama Honorary Consul of Georgia’s involvement

Before obtaining this status, Aldama already had the title of a delegate of Spain in Latin America for an international human rights mission, a qualification supposedly granted by the diplomatic corps.

Aldama presented himself as a commercial link between the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Mexico, which he pointed out in his professional letter of this introduction.

The question is how Aldama was named Honorary Consul of Georgia in Zamora (Spain), where, according to Embassy data, only ten Georgian citizens are registered in the entire province.

The Answer lies with UNWTO Sakataren Janar Georgian Zurab Pololikashvili.

The answer lies with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Georgian Zurab Pololikashvili.

According to the sources consulted by The OBJECTIVE newspaper in Spain, Zurab has been Javier Hidalgo’s personal friend for years. “He introduced Aldama before the pandemic, and through him, Aldama obtained the title of honorary consul of Georgia in Zamora.”

Not in vain, Pololikashvili influenced the diplomatic sphere of his country.

Before becoming Secretary General of the UNWTO, he was the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Georgia to Spain, the Principality of Andorra, and the Kingdom of Morocco and the permanent representative of Georgia on the UNWTO Majalisar.

Questionable Election to UNWTO Sakatare Janar

    https://eturbonews.com/why-the-unwto-secretary-general-zurab-polokashvili-was-never-properly-elected/

Zurab used this to put together his candidacy to lead the United Nations World Tourism Organization and clearly used his former position to maneuver his successful election, what many say defrauding his component, Dr. Walter Mzembi, the former Minister of Tourism for Zimbabwe.

tare da Aldama, he also shares his love for football and managing name-brand football clubs since Pololikashvili was also CEO of FC Dinamo Tbilisi, a professional football team in Georgia.

After Zurab was appointed secretary general of the UN Agency for Tourism, he met Hidalgo and formed a close personal friendship inseparable from his business relations.

“They became close, traveling together and doing business together,” sources explain. The result of this was the Globalia subsidiary, Wakalua, a tourism innovation hub designed by Globalia and the UNWTO, which they both devised and strengthened ties with the Spanish president’s wife, Begoña Gómez.

    https://eturbonews.com/unwto-tourism-startups-focus-on-innovation-and-sustainability/

According to Spanish news sources, a company that was registered in March 2019 was already created a year earlier, in 2018, precisely when the Georgian diplomat and former politician Zurab Pololikashvili was appointed head of the UNWTO.

Since his arrival, Globalia has been a frequent guest at the organization’s annual meetings.

At the XXIII UNWTO General Assembly held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in September 2019, Globalia was the only Spanish company invited to the Russian city, where Aldama, javier hidalgo, Da kuma Begoña Gómez held their first private meeting to discuss matters related to the businesses of both parties.

After that first meeting in Saint Petersburg, other events followed at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, such as the celebration of the IE African Center startup awards, sponsored by Wakalua, which was attended by the wife of the Spanish President, Begoña Gómez, the CEO of Globalia, javier hidalgo, Da kuma Zurab Pololikashvili.

As head of the UNWTO, Pololikashvili was, together with Duniya, the promoter of the Wakalua hub that sponsored the awards. Begoña Gómez was the director and event organizer of the IE African Center.

It is striking that this collaboration occurred just three months after the Spanish president’s wife asked Hidalgo for help promoting the Institute at this private meeting at the Hotel in Saint Petersburg.

The following year, in September 2020, the UNWTO Executive Council met in Georgia.

Aldama appeared on the attendees list as a “Globalia director” despite not having a presence on the company’s board and being only an external advisor whom the Hidalgo holding company hired in two cases.

The criminal Delorme case recorded that 200 million dollars were obtained for Air Europa in Venezuela and another funding for the airline’s rescue operation after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The corporate director, Lisandro Menu Marque, also attended the UNWTO’s Executive Council Meeting in Georgia, accompanying Aldama, who represented Globalia. Neither Gómez nor Hidalgo participated in this meeting.

This Executive Council meeting was seen as a critical event, a way for Zurab to smooth and manipulate the way for his re-election, making it impossible for any component to win. This time, he defrauded his only unexpected component, SHI Mai Al Khalifa daga Bahrain.

    https://eturbonews.com/how-unwto-is-tainting-any-united-nations-call-for-fair-elections/

    SHI Mai Al Khalifa

    https://eturbonews.com/first-woman-candidate-for-unwto-secretary-general-is-from-bahrain/

A year after their first meeting in Russia, three months after the meetings at the Globalia headquarters where the rescue of Air Europa was discussed, and a month before the Government formally announced the rescue in November 2020, the objective of the Air Europa parent company had been more than met.

According to airline sources, in July, they requested a bailout of 400 million, and in October, they increased this figure by 75 million more on the recommendation of the SEPI (State Society of Industrial Participations), the largest bailout granted to date to a private company.

But it was not until June 2021, six months later, when Víctor de Aldama was appointed honorary consul of Georgia in Zamora.

He obtained a diplomatic DNI that allowed him to enter Georgia after two years of relationship with whoever was the plenipotentiary ambassador of Georgia in Spain.

Parallel to that, Javier Hidalgo and José Luis Ábalos were dismissed as Minister of Transport.

His advisor, Koldo García Izaguirre, had opened the doors of the Ministry of Transport and many others who would contract with his company.

Management Solutions, on the recommendation of the same minister who was now forced to leave the PSOE Organization Secretariat a few days later.

Me ya sa UNWTO now UN- Tourism – a more significant reason?

To unlink from this criminal scandal may have been an intention of the UNWTO Secretary-General to rename this UN-affiliated agency recently to UN Tourism. The former UNWTO Secretary-General Frangialli may have even had a bigger reason to be upset.

  • Guru Airline na Asiya akan makomar balaguron jirgin sama

Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia parent company Babban birnin A, said that despite volatile oil prices and foreign currency fluctuations the outlook for aviation remains positive due to “extremely strong” demand.

Fernandes says that pandemic struggles had necessitated a plan for “surviving,” which included setting up logistics, engineering and digital divisions. However, he now sees positive longer-term consequences for both AirAsia and the aviation industry as a result of the turmoil, noting that both airlines have been reporting record profits.

“I think we now have the best time in aviation,” he said.

“If you think about history of aviation, America went through lots of ups and downs and a lot of consolidation … Europe went through the same thing, there were a lot of state-owned carriers which threw a lot of valuations out by crazy pricing, or state subsidies,” Fernandes added.

“ASEAN was in that position with a lot of state-owned airlines being subsidized and throwing fares and being irresponsible. Covid has taught everyone a lesson. So that is one positive for me, in that we now have a rational market.”

He said fares had risen by 30% and weren’t coming down anytime soon, with airline capacity unlikely to change over the next five to six years. This is in part due to a backlog in aircraft orders that manufacturers are struggling to keep up with.

“We have an advantage of a 400 plane order book, but many airlines don’t have that. If you buy a plane now you won’t get one till 2031,” he said.

Fernandes said AirAsia had been “lucky” as an Airbus only customer to swerve the ongoing turbulence with its 737 Max aircraft, though he added that he believed the US plane maker would “come out of it stronger.”

    Yanayin Balaguro na gaba

In a recent CNBC interview Fernandes said he sees some resurgence in demand from China, but just as good, if not better, opportunities in the Indian market. Post-pandemic, Asian travelers are showing a preference for regional journeys and even domestic ones — partly because of the current “jingoistic” climate, he said.

He is, meanwhile, excited by the potential for new long-range aircraft, particularly Airbus’s A321 XLR, its long-range, single-aisle plane.

“That’s going to enable us to create a long-range, medium-haul low-cost carrier that can span 10 hours … So it means that dream of having a narrow-body to take you around the world, as opposed to a wide-body which is much more expensive,” Fernandes said.

“That would be a very exciting concept, creating an Emirates or a Qatar, but on narrow-body.”

  • Ryanair Yana Barazana Rufe Tushen Bordeaux Akan Rigimar Kuɗi

In a bold move, Ryanair issued a stark warning on Wednesday, hinting at the potential closure of its base in Bordeaux if the airport in southwestern Faransa proceeds with fee hikes.

According to a union spokesperson, approximately 120 jobs hang in the balance due to this standoff.

Michael O’Leary, the CEO of the budget Irish carrier, expressed firm opposition to the purported fee doubling by Bordeaux Airport.

    Hoton 4 | eTurboNews | eTN
    Bordeaux Airport

“The airport I think wants to double our cost, we’re not willing to pay double the cost at Bordeaux,” he stated to AFP during an airline conference in Brussels. O’Leary highlighted the possibility of shutting down the Bordeaux base by the end of the summer season should negotiations falter.

“We have three aircraft based there, we’ve got a very successful operation, lots of good employees. But if the response of the airport is ‘pay us double the fees’, the answer is no. We’ll move the aircraft somewhere else,” O’Leary emphasized.

Responding to Ryanair’s ultimatum, Bordeaux Airport expressed regret that the airline informed its employees about the potential base closure without prior dialogue. The airport management also refuted Ryanair’s claims regarding the fee structure, denouncing them as “totally erroneous comments.”

Meanwhile, the SNPNC-FO union voiced profound concern over the looming threat, underscoring the jeopardy faced by 120 jobs in the region.

Bordeaux-Merignac Airport, ranking as the eighth busiest in France in 2023 with 6.6 million passengers, has struggled to recover fully from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although the figure represents 85.5 percent of pre-pandemic 2019 levels, it falls short of the national average of 92.7 percent for French airports.

The airport’s woes were compounded by the termination of flights to Paris, a consequence of the French government’s restriction on domestic flights that can be substituted by train journeys of less than three hours.

  • Dandalin Sana'o'in Yawon shakatawa na PATA: Hatsari da Alkawari ga Gen Z

On 18 March 2024, more than 1,500 university students of tourism, including about 700 onsite and another 800 online, attended a half-day forum organized by the HOOF Thailand chapter and Jami’ar Bangkok to “Fast Forward” their careers. It ended with a round of self-congratulatory applause and predictions of a bright future. But a closer look at the presentations shows that young people are not so sure. On the contrary, they harbor real concerns about their future job prospects and want this generation to act on it.

That concern was clearly communicated by Mr Eunkyu Chun (Nick), PATA’s Youth Ambassador & Membership Executive. In the introductory presentation, the upcoming 29-year-old Korean now living in the Philippines flashed up the results of a survey question posed to young people on their plans to stay in the industry and what makes the industry less attractive for them. Of the 84 respondents, the vast majority (49%) cited the “unpredictable future of the industry.”

Why is the future “unpredictable”? The answer emerged not in the presentations during the forum but in an earlier one by a senior official of the Tourism Authority of Thailand to the PATA Thailand chapter executive committee. This slide showed exactly why the industry is in an unpredictable stage.

Mr Chun’s presentation reinforced the TAT’s. It clearly reflected the voice of the Young Generation.

He asked what attracts them to a career in Travel & Tourism. The answers (see slide below) clearly distinguish Travel & Tourism from other economic sectors which offer none of those. Gen Z is not in it just for the money. Nor are they lazy and self-centerd.

Mr Chun asked for a random survey via a show of hands. How many would like to become just researchers? Only 3 hands went up. He then asked how many would go into sustainability? Only six hands went up.

He then flashed up more slides sending an equivocal message to the audience which included the PATA Thailand Executive Committee and some special guests, the President of the Thai Hotels Association Mrs Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi and the President of the Thailand Incentive & Convention Association Mr Sumate Sudasna. The executive directors of both the THA and TICA were also present.

He also showed another slide contrasting the industry’s constant fretting about the “lack of talent” against the Next Generation’s desire to address the “lack of opportunities.”

Mr Chun’s survey results about the “unpredictable” state of the union were further reinforced by another speaker Dr Pinnaree Tea-makorn of Sasin School of Management, who talked about another current buzzword: the impact of AI. Today’s students are more than familiar with AI. Prof Pinnaree asked how many had used ChatGPT? About 50 hands went up, some of them hesitantly.

She flagged how AI would change just about everything in Travel and Tourism, from customer experience to operations and marketing to security and sustainability. One slide showed a human-free hotel lobby. Effectively, her message was that everything the students were learning in university today will be pretty much obsolete by the time they finish.

Another speaker, marketing expert Mr David Barrett, also asked for a show of hands: How many young people DON’T like to travel? Not a single hand went up.

He talked about how the world has changed since his days and how it could change in future. He flashed up slides showing what lifestyles and technology were like in the 1970s, when he was a teenager – bell-bottom trousers and push-button telephones.

No-one would have imagined what life would be like today with mobile phones and the internet, he said. If it has changed that much in just 40 years, imagine how it is likely to change in the next 40 years. He told the students to start preparing for an era of space travel, possibly even to other planets.

More near-term emerging opportunities were shown by Mr. Ratchadet Suksin of Central Department Store and Ms. Watcharee Churugsa of DASTA. They highlighted niche-market trends not directly in tourism but in related sectors such as fashion and sustainability.

All the presentations were rosy and upbeat. None addressed risks and threats posed by the “unpredictable future of the industry”.

Mr Barrett came close, but missed the opportunity. He reminded the young people of the importance of learning from the past, and flashed a slide of genius physicist Albert Einstein who had advocated exactly that. He juxtaposed Prof Einstein’s image with that of this writer who is echoing the same message via lectures on the fascinating history of Thai tourism.

But in his flashback to the 1970s, Mr Barrett overlooked the most historic positive geopolitical development of that decade, the end of the Indochina wars. Peace prevailed after the guns fell silent in the late 1970s, thanks to a robust, crusading media which reported the brutality of war and exposed the lies of the establishment, triggering the massive anti-war protests by the bell-bottomed young people.

It was this prevalence of peace and the end of Unpredictability, Instability and Uncertainty which laid the foundation for a massive investment in infrastructure and opened the door for tourism to become a catalyst for alleviating post-war poverty and speeding up economic recovery.

Today, just under 50 years later, wars are back with a vengeance. Media freedom is dying, and anti-war protests are not doing any good. This return of the Age of Unpredictability is being aided and abetted by technology which has already undermined privacy and individuality and now poses a clear risk to human rights, freedom and democracy.

That dangerous downward trend will make the future of Travel & Tourism even more unpredictable.

And the young generation knows it.

So the key underlying message of the forum was that while changing times will create many new job opportunities, industry leaders are failing to recognize the very real and growing risks and threats to those jobs. Instead, they are sweeping them under the carpet and painting an unrealistically imbalanced picture of a bright future.

If this generation truly and honestly wishes to “fast forward” the careers of Gen Z, the rose-tinted glasses will have to come off. As Mr Chun highlighted in bold capital letters in his slide: YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION.

That means making the world peaceful, stable and safe. That would give the young people the best assurance of future job prospects and live up to the true meaning of sustainability.

  • Layin Jirgin Saman Delta Ya Buɗe Duk Sabbin Uniform na 'Delta Na Musamman'

Delta employees are now able to preview prototypes of a brand-new uniform collection. This collection was developed and designed over the course of more than 18 months, with input from all 70,000 uniformed employees at Delta. These employees include airport customer service agents, cargo agents, flight attendants, ground equipment mechanics, and aircraft technicians. The uniforms aim to embody a modern and distinctive Delta style.

An fara a 2022, Delta Airlines has joined forces with GPS Apparel, a subsidiary of Gap Inc., to bring forth a new collection. By engaging in job shadows, focus groups, surveys, and interviews, the team at Gap Inc. has gathered feedback from over 20,000 employees regarding future uniform designs. This input is being utilized to create prototypes that prioritize both comfort and sophistication, ensuring they are contemporary, resilient, and, above all, functional.

The uniform prototypes feature deep navy blues and rich burgundy as the main colors, complemented by pops of bright red and white. This color palette is a nod to Delta’s brand identity and history, embracing a more traditional aesthetic. Delta’s uniform philosophy prioritizes ease of movement, breathability, inclusive fit, durability, and unique design aspects. The collection presents a cohesive and sophisticated appearance while providing employees the flexibility to choose from different styles. The uniforms are specifically designed to cater to the different divisions and roles within the company, integrating functional elements that enhance employees’ ability to perform their duties effectively and take pride in wearing their uniforms.

Designers also integrated the famous widget logo throughout the collection as a tribute to Delta’s brand identity and rich history. The widget, which was initially unveiled in 1959 and can be observed on the tails of Delta planes, symbolizes the essence and values of the airline. Its sturdy foundation is represented by the flat base, while the upward-pointing top serves as a constant reminder to strive for progress.

Providing new uniforms for all Delta employees from head to toe will require a considerable amount of time. Later this autumn, the airline will commence extensive wear testing for each garment of the uniform, allowing Delta employees to have a say in the fit, appearance, and practicality of the new collection. However, it will take a few more years before the new uniform pieces are fully implemented across all workgroups.

In a bid to restore its tourism reputation, Thai immigration authorities have initiated a crackdown on foreigners without valid reasons or those involved in criminal activities within the country.

Deputy Chief of the 'Yan sandan Royal Thai, Roy Ingpairoj, has directed the immigration department to intensify scrutiny on foreigners residing in Tailandia, as reported by Khaosod English newspaper.

Stringent screening measures are to be applied to all incoming and outgoing foreigners, as well as those seeking visa extensions or changes in visa status.

All criminal activities committed by foreigners, including violations of immigration laws, will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.

Furthermore, foreign residents will undergo scrutiny to uncover any links with criminal elements resembling organized crime syndicates.

This move follows a surge in criminal incidents involving foreigners, tarnishing Thailand’s image.

Since October 1, 2023, Thai authorities have made 614 arrests for various offenses such as theft, illegal employment, traffic violations, and sex-related crimes, according to Thailand’s Public Relations Department.

In a recent high-profile case, two tourists from New Zealand were detained for assaulting a police officer in Phuket, resulting in a lifetime ban from Thailand and visa revocation.

Earlier this month, a Swiss national had his long-stay visa revoked for allegedly assaulting a Thai woman on a beach in Phuket.

    Ongoing Case of AOG Technics

In 2023, AOG Technics headquartered in London was supplying parts for CFM56 engines that power countless commercial aircraft. It was revealed that the parts being supplied were unapproved and counterfeit and additionally passed through the process via falsified documents.

These parts were used in the best-selling jet engine in the world – the CFM56 – which is used in commercial aircraft including the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. To give an example of how far reaching that is, this popular engine is responsible for an aircraft take off every 2 seconds around the globe. There were 126 airplanes grounded around the world due to this scandal.

    AOG Technics Founder

To date, the founder of AOG Technics, Jose Alejandro Zamora Yrala, age 35, has been arrested for the alleged SUPs that filtered their way into jet planes around the globe. All the major airlines in the United States were affected by this.

Despite the allegations and his arrest by the UK Serious Fraud Office (the same things as the FBI in America) which is in the midst of conducting a probe into the potential criminal scandal, the FAA issued a statement in December 2023 that “based on the parts investigated to date,” the “airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive” for AOG Technics parts. At that time, the FAA said the investigation was ongoing and that this assessment could change in the future.

Prior to Yrala founding AOG Technics in the UK in 2015, he began performing in 2005 under the name of Santa Militia as a techno DJ and music producer in Caracas, Venezuela, then relocated in 2010 to the UK where he continued to perform there as well as in Italy and Spain.

It has been revealed that AOG Technics paid for a mailing box address at the cost of $150 a month, in order to sustain the image of having a prestigious address near Buckingham Palace despite the fact that there was no office at that location. Yrala is described as mostly working from home.

As of this writing, Yrala has still not made any official statement or commented about the allegations or his arrest.

  • Hukumar Yawon shakatawa ta Singapore tana shirye-shiryen Sauƙaƙe Visa ga Indiyawan

The Kwamitin yawon shakatawa na Singapore (STB) has announced plans to streamline the visa process for Indian tourists, anticipating a significant influx of over 1.5 million visitors from India in 2024.

Senior tourism officials revealed that the country is intensifying efforts to enhance its hospitality infrastructure, including the addition of hotel rooms, to accommodate the anticipated surge.

Before the onset of the pandemic-induced lockdown, Singapore welcomed 1.4 million tourists from India a 2019.

Although this figure dropped to 1.1 million in 2023, the STB remains optimistic about the potential rebound in tourism from India this year.

The STB, with offices in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, is actively working towards this objective to further encourage Indian travelers to visit Singapore.

  • Najeriya ta haramtawa jami'an gwamnati tafiye-tafiye zuwa kasashen waje

The president of Nigeria has implemented a temporary suspension on government officials’ publicly-funded international travel in an attempt to reduce administrative expenses during a worsening cost of living crisis. This measure will be effective from April 1 for a duration of three months, as stated in a circular published by local media, according to Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff at the Presidency.

Shugaba Bola Tinubu‘s decision to modify travel expenses is driven by concerns over increasing costs and the necessity for cabinet members and heads of MDAs (Ministries, Departments and Agencies) to concentrate on their specific mandates for improved service delivery, the statement said.

Nigerian president and his team have been heavily criticized for their frequent international travels. For instance, last November, they sent more than 400 individuals to attend the COP28 climate conference in Dubai. Additionally, there has been significant public outrage concerning the accountant general department’s arrangement of a training program in the UK for finance commissioners from all 36 states of Nigeria, as well as other government officials.

According to local media, it has been reported that Tinubu has made over 15 trips abroad since taking office in May of last year. The president’s travel expenses, reportedly amounted to at least 3.4 billion naira ($2.2 million) for both domestic and international travel during the first six months of his administration. This exceeded the budget allocated for 2023 by 36%, as reported by GovSpend, a civic tech platform that monitors government expenditures.

Chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila statied that implementing a temporary travel restriction would effectively reduce expenses during the prevailing economic difficulties while ensuring that administrative operations remain intact.

Starting next month, when the ban becomes effective, Nigerian government officials will be required to obtain the president’s approval at least two weeks prior to undertaking international trips that are considered absolutely necessary.

President Tinubu’s removal of the fuel subsidy in Africa’s most populous country has led to an increase in living and transportation expenses. This decision was part of budget deficit-reduction reforms. Additionally, the devaluation of the local currency, the naira, has resulted in higher costs for goods. As a result, there have been widespread street protests and nationwide strikes organized by labor unions. It is worth noting that the country is also grappling with the issue of terrorism.
