Filipinos and tourists alike who have been to the little town of Vigan City in the northern Philippines say that visiting is like stepping back in time. The vibe in this town is like nothing you will find in Asia with its townscape depicting a picture perfect old settlement bussing with real life characters. It’s a perfect scenario of time travelling. The cobbled streets aged with the character of Colonial Spain and is full of well- preserved stone houses with distinctive ventanas (windows). Kalesa (horse carriages) still exists to transport you from different destinations in the area.

Once again, the Philippines joins the global platform N7W.com to showcase one of its best assets to the world. Vigan City is shortlisted as one of the top 28 cities in the world to be chosen for “New7Wonder Cities.” This little town in Luzon boasts of rich cultural heritage, a well- preserved Spanish Colonial Town and history that dates back to the 16th century. In 1999, Vigan was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Philippines is once again campaigning for Vigan to be part of the final N7W Cities through social media. It is proud to share the beauty of this wonderful city to the world. This is the second time the Philippines would have an entry to the N7W lists with the Underground River in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, topping the list for the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012.
